People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

American National Standards Institute (ANSI) member and audited designator the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recently announced that Jim Pauley will serve as the next president of the organization. Mr. Pauley is currently Schneider Electric's senior vice president of external affairs and government relations and will assume the post of NFPA president in July, succeeding current NFPA president James Shannon, who has worked at NFPA since 1991 and served as its president since 2002.

Mr. Pauley was hired by electrical equipment manufacturer Square D in 1985 and, following Schneider Electric's 1991 acquisition of Square D, rose through the ranks to become a senior vice president. During his career, Mr. Pauley has served as chairman of the board of ANSI, chairman of NFPA's Standards Council, and chair of ANSI member and accredited standards developer the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA)'s High Performance Building Council. He received his bachelor of science degree in engineering from the University of Kentucky.
