December ANSI Caucus Welcomes USTR Director of Technical Barriers to Trade

On Friday, December 7, the ANSI Caucus will feature Jeffrey Weiss, director, technical barriers to trade in the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). During his presentation, Mr. Weiss will address trade issues before the standards community.

Mr. Weiss is responsible for trade negotiations and policy coordination regarding non-tariff trade matters before the World Trade Organization involving technical regulations, standards, testing, and certification procedures. Prior to assuming his current position, he served USTR as an associate general counsel in Washington, DC, and at the U.S. Mission to the WTO in Geneva, Switzerland.

In addition to his role at USTR, Mr. Weiss serves as the designated federal officer for the U.S. Industry Trade Advisory Council 16 on Standards and Technical Trade Barriers. [see related article: “ANSI President and CEO Joe Bhatia Elected Vice Chair of ITAC 16”]

The December Caucus event is sponsored by ASTM International, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer.
