ISA and ANSI Event to Introduce New Financial Risk Document to Congressional Staff

New York, Apr 23, 2010

On May 7, 2010, the Internet Security Alliance (ISA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will brief members of Congress and their staff on the new publication, The Financial Management of Cyber Risk: An Implementation Framework for CFOs.

According to the White House Cyberspace Policy Review, between 2008 and 2009, American business losses due to cyber attacks had grown to more than $1 trillion of intellectual property. In this report, the President asked for a program that would help assign monetary value to cyber risks and consequences, giving organizations greater ability and incentive to address cybersecurity.

The Financial Management of Cyber Risk: An Implementation Framework for CFOs responds directly to the President’s request, offering a pragmatic action plan that addresses cybersecurity from an enterprise-wide perspective.

The briefing will begin with a video presentation and a role play depicting the dynamics of typical executive reaction to a cybersecurity attack. There will then be a presentation demonstrating how the new publication offers a framework for preventing such attacks by developing an enterprise-wide system of risk management.

Featured speakers include: Larry Clinton, ISA president; S. Joe Bhatia, ANSI president and CEO; Ty Sagalow, Zurich North America chief innovation officer; Mark Bregman, Ph.D., Symantec Corp executive vice president and chief technology officer; Tom Jackson, partner at Phillips Nizer LLP; and Harry Oellrich, Guy & Carpenter Co. vice president.

The event will take place on Friday, May 7, 2010, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Longworth House Office Building Room 1539, Independence Avenue and 1st Street, SE, in Washington, DC. A bag lunch will be available to go at the close of the event.

The briefing is open to Congress members and their staff as well as all interested members of the press. RSVP to Marjorie Morgan (mmorgan@isalliance.org). For more information, see the event flier. For a free download of the document, visit webstore.ansi.org/cybersecurity.
