According to the proposal, the activity would focus on standardization work associated with domestic gas cooking appliances, including related terminology, classification, performance characteristics, and test methods, with the goal of providing safety and performance frameworks for these devices. As part of this work, development of an international standard for domestic gas cooking appliances would be pursued, with the new standard drawing from existing national and regional standards. This new activity would not pursue standardization work related to cookstoves; work in that area is carried out by ISO Technical Committee (TC) 285, Clean cookstoves and clean cooking solutions.

Feedback received by the March 7 deadline will be reviewed and compiled for the recommended ANSI position and comment, which will then be presented to the ANSI ISO Council for formal approval.
