Emily Stover DeRocco has joined the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) as president of the National Center for the American Workforce, part of the NAM’s Manufacturing Institute. Ms. DeRocco will also serve as a senior vice president of NAM.

Prior to this appointment, Ms. DeRocco served as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training. Nominated by President Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as head of the Employment and Training Administration in the summer of 2001, DeRocco was responsible for managing an annual budget of more than $10 billion funding the country’s workforce investment system. She represented the U.S. in numerous international forums and led boards and commissions in areas ranging from the future of the aerospace industry to the aging of the American workforce.

“The government’s loss is our gain,” said NAM president John Engler. “The NAM has made substantial progress through our Dream It! Do It! campaign encouraging bright young people to pursue careers in modern manufacturing. Emily will take this excellent program to a higher level as we create an enticing career path into the future that millions of our best and brightest young people will want to pursue.”

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced several executive promotions earlier this week:

Jason Oxman has been promoted to senior vice president of industry affairs. In this new position, Mr. Oxman adds management of the market research and strategic relations departments to his existing responsibility for communications and member relations.

John Tunnell has been elevated to vice president of member relations. He will be responsible for all CEA Divisions and membership relations and will continue to work under Oxman’s leadership.

Annemarie Ramirez has been promoted to senior vice president of human resources. She will continue to oversee employee benefits, recruiting, training and retention of CEA’s 155 employees.

In addition to the promotions, CEA announced that senior vice president of industry relations Todd Thibodeaux will be leaving the Association this month to pursue other opportunities.
