Did You Know? offers a quick look at the broad scope of activities underway within the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Federation of members and partners, highlighting recent accomplishments and new resources related to standardization.

NEMA White Paper Outlines Medical Imaging Device Servicing and Remanufacturing
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has published a white paper that provides a framework for establishing the distinction between servicing and remanufacturing activities for medical devices.

Considerations for Remanufacturing of Medical Imaging Devices also recommends appropriate quality management systems for organizations that will define the scope of activities being undertaken, ensuring that servicing and remanufacturing activities are performed, documented, and regulated properly. The paper is intended for hospitals, physicians, medical imaging device manufacturers, and medical imaging device servicers.

"We hope this white paper will serve as a resource for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the broader stakeholder community as it moves forward with future guidance on this issue," said Dennis Durmis, chair of the Board of Directors of the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA), a division of NEMA. "It is important that a sound process and clear definitions are in place to ensure that servicing activities are clearly distinguished from remanufacturing and all stakeholders understand the differences."

SAE to Host Webinar on Collaborative Robotics
SAE International, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced that it will hold a free webinar through its Tech Briefs Media Group.

"Collaborative Robotics: Safely Connecting Man and Machine" will outline important factors for integrating collaborative robots into the manufacturing process. These robots, which interact and work together with humans in the workspace, are used by manufacturers to automate dangerous or tedious tasks. Significant safety considerations and operator training must be undertaken when using these machines to preserve safety and efficiency.

The webinar will be held on Wednesday, March 6 at noon EST. Click here to learn more and register for the free event.

ASHRAE Webcast to Explore the Future of Air Conditioning System Configurations
ASHRAE, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has opened registration for its free 2019 webcast.

"The Future of Refrigerants: Unitary and VRF Systems" will discuss the most common air conditioning system configurations today, and how these systems will be affected by worldwide regulatory restrictions and corresponding advances in refrigerant technology.

The two-hour webcast will be broadcast live at two different days and times: Wednesday, April 17 from 7:00-9:00pm EDT, and Thursday, April 18 from 11am-1:00pm EDT.

See ASHRAE's website to learn more and register for the free presentation.

ASSE International Revamps Website
ASSE International, an ANSI-accredited standards developer as a chapter of ANSI audited designator IAPMO, has launched a new website with reorganized content, designed to make it easier for visitors to access product certification, personnel certification, standards development, and membership information.

The new website features "quicklinks" to frequently visited pages, integration with social media accounts, faster performance, and increased accessibility around the world.

"With this launch, our members and customers will be able to connect with ASSE International more than ever," said Tom Palkon, ASSE International executive director.
