Strategic Standardization Management Course Offered in conjunction with ANSI-HSSP Plenary Meeting

New York, Aug 05, 2005

The Education and Training Services team of the American National Standards Insitute (ANSI) is offering its course on Strategic Standardization Management for the Homeland Security Community in Gaithersburg, MD, prior to the ANSI Homeland Security Standards Panel (ANSI-HSSP) plenary meeting on September 29-30, 2005. The session will be particularly helpful for those involved in emerging standardization activities (e.g. healthcare information technology, nanotechnology and social responsibility).

Strategic Standardization Management is a process that investigates all aspects of standardization across a business, organization, industry, or agency and then defines, recommends, and implements appropriate strategies and policies that can give a company or organization the competitive advantage, or avoid competitive disadvantage. The content of this half-day course has been customized to speak to the interests of groups working in the security area. Examples and class discussions will highlight how members of the homeland security community have launched a fast-paced standards harmonization campaign and are now managing a rapidly expanding work program.

Participants will learn why it is advantageous to implement a standards strategy and participate in standards development and receive tools and suggestions on how to proceed with both. The course is targeted toward senior managers; standards, business, manufacturing and engineering managers; and other company, organization or agency personnel responsible for increasing profits, lowering costs of procurement, proficiency and production in the standards arena, or enhancing security.

This course will be held in conjunction with the ANSI-HSSP plenary meeting at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg. The course will run from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2005. The cost of the course, including all training materials, is $295 for ANSI and HSSP members and $395 for non-members. Interested parties are requested to register for this course by September 15, 2005. [Please note that in consideration of the expense associated with running the training course, ANSI Education and Training Services must have a guaranteed confirmed number of participants. The training session will not be held if the requisite number of confirmed registrations is not met.]
