Reminder: Nomination Deadline Approaching for 2008 Leadership and Service Awards

Deadline for nominations is Friday, July 11, 2008

New York, Jun 13, 2008

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) wishes to remind all interested parties that the Call for Nominations for its 2008 Leadership and Service Awards ends July 11.

Presented in conjunction with the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day, the awards recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to voluntary consensus standardization and conformity assessment programs and have consistently demonstrated a commitment to their industry, their nation, and the enhancement of the global standards system.

This year’s Call for Nominations seeks individuals who have dedicated themselves to efforts that will strengthen American competitiveness in the global marketplace and improve the quality of life for workers and consumers around the world.

According to ANSI president and CEO S. Joe Bhatia, the ANSI annual awards program “is a long-standing ANSI tradition recognizing the imaginative work that is accomplished when individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives come together to develop standards and compliance-based solutions that strengthen our economy and protect our well-being.”

ANSI will honor the 2008 award recipients on Wednesday evening, October 22, at a banquet and ceremony to be held at The Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, MD.

Nominations are due by Friday, July 11, 2008 (5:00 pm EDT).
