SASB Announces Michael Bloomberg as New Board Chair and Mary Schapiro as Vice Chair
The Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), an ANSI organizational member and accredited standards developer, has announced that Bloomberg LP founder and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg will serve as the chair of the organization's board of directors. Mary Schapiro, the former chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will become the board's vice chair.

SASB is a nonprofit organization focused on developing and propagating sustainability accounting standards that assist publicly traded companies in accurately and effectively disclosing sustainability information to fulfil accounting requirements and provide investors with important information. Mr. Bloomberg and Ms. Schapiro possess a wealth of specialized knowledge and are experienced leaders who are expected to be a major asset to SASB moving forward.

FEMP to Host Free Webinar on Energy Efficiency Expert Evaluations
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) will hold a free webinar providing participants with important information on specialized site assessments known as energy efficiency expert evaluations. These assessments can be used to bolster operational, energy, and water efficiency at a given site while also reducing costs and improving system performance, and share similarities with energy audits.

NGWA Releases Household Well Flooding Response Tip Sheet
ANSI member and accredited standards developer the National Ground Water Association (NGWA) recently published a list of recommendations intended to assist homeowners in preparing for and recovering from the potential dangers and damages associated with household water well flooding. The guide covers tips for determining whether a given well is likely to flood, advice about well disinfection, and information about when to contact trained professionals.

SES Releases Official Program for its 2014 Annual Conference in Ottawa
SES - The Society for Standards Professionals, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has released the official program for its 63rd annual conference, providing information on the conference's planned series of events, including a variety of specialized technical sessions.

The 2014 SES annual conference, which features the theme of Standardization and Conformity Assessment Across Borders, will take place on August 11-14, 2014, at Ottawa's Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel. Individuals who register by Saturday, July 19, 2014, will receive a discount on the cost of registration and can take advantage of a special SES hotel rate of $165 per night. Online registration is available; in addition, a printable registration form can be downloaded from the SES website.
