People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), an organizational member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has named Frank Slazer as vice president of space systems.

Mr. Slazer has nearly 30 years of experience in space policy issues and programs. Most recently he developed and implemented business development strategies across the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) civil space market for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems. He was responsible for developing and managing customer relationships and all aspects of the business acquisition process.

He was also director of civil space business development at United Launch Alliance and the Boeing Company. At Boeing he was involved with the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle, Space Shuttle, and International Space Station programs. He represented Boeing to NASA, the Department of Defense (DOD), and other government and international customers.

Mr. Slazer serves as president of the American Astronautical Society. He has undergraduate degrees in political science and aerospace engineering from Syracuse University and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Irvine.

AIA represents U.S. manufacturers and suppliers of civil, military, and business aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aircraft systems, space systems, aircraft engines, missiles, materiel and related components, equipment, services, and information technology.

ANSI organizational member the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) has appointed JC Scott as senior executive vice president and director of bipartisan government affairs.

Mr. Scott joins AdvaMed from the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), where he served as senior vice president of federal relations. At ACLI he led lobbying efforts on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, as well as on a number of major tax and retirement security initiatives. He previously served as deputy director for policy at the House Republican Conference, and in a number of capacities for Representative Deborah Pryce (R-OH).

Mr. Scott is a graduate of Duke University and earned his J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center.

AdvaMed member companies produce the medical devices, diagnostic products and health information systems that are transforming health care through earlier disease detection, less invasive procedures and more effective treatments. AdvaMed members range from the largest to the smallest medical technology innovators and companies.
