UL Webinar Explains Writing HFE Reports for FDA Submission
UL, an ANSI member and audited designator, has a free archived webinar available for all interested stakeholders on the basics of preparing a human factors engineers (HFE) report for submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The one-hour webinar includes three components:

- Basic information on preparing an HFE report

NFPA's New Policy Institute to Provide Safety Guidance and Information to Policymakers
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), an ANSI member and audited designator, has announced the launch of the NFPA Fire & Life Safety Policy Institute. The Policy Institute's purpose is to guide policymakers in the best approaches for preserving citizens' safety.

"We have made tremendous progress in reducing loss from fire since NFPA's inception, but we are painfully reminded every day that there is more to be done," said NFPA president Jim Pauley.

The Institute will provide recommended practices, proposed solutions, and other guidance to policymakers, supporting effective fire prevention and protection systems. It will be led by Meghan Housewright, who previously served in NFPA's government affairs office.

IEEE Report Examines Future Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Modern Families
IEEE, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has released a new report on how artificial intelligence (AI) may impact the lives of today's "Generation Alpha" kids (born between 2010 and 2025). Information was gathered through a survey of millennial parents, revealing how they think growing up with AI will affect their children.

The survey showed that millennial parents see AI technology as a huge part of their children's lives - and their own. The majority of respondents (63 percent) would prefer to have AI technology help them live independently in their old age, rather than relying on their children. Parents also see the benefit of having AI technology assist their children in their schoolwork, with 74 percent saying they would consider using a tutor powered by AI. Even pets may be affected: 48 percent of respondents indicated that they would be more likely to get a robot pet instead of a real pet if their child requested one.

See more results from the survey in the IEEE news item.
