Team ANSI Participates in Revlon Run/Walk to Fight Women's Cancer

New York, Mar 29, 2002

The money raised for the 5th Annual Revlon Run/Walk For Women will help ensure that cancer research, counseling and outreach programs are well funded. Many members of the ANSI New York staff are participating in this five-kilometer event to keep women healthy.

On May 4th, Team ANSI (#1019), along with 40,000 men, women and children, will join the fight to keep women healthy. Starting in New York's Time Square, the Revlon Run/Walk is an annual fundraising campaign to raise awareness and significant funds to drive research that will result in preventional education, early diagnostic indicators, treatments and ultimately, a cure for women's cancers. Funds raised will be distributed to scientists who are doing the best, cutting edge research throughout the United States as well as to local beneficiaries.

The Revlon Run/Walk was created through the committed and collective efforts of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Lily Tartikoff and Ronald O. Perelman and has grown to become one of the nation's leading fundraising events. To date, the Run/Walk has raised over $17 million for cancer research, counseling, and outreach programs. Already, thanks in part to these funds, new treatments are being developed and lives are being saved.

"It is estimated that one in eight American women will develop breast cancer at some point in her life," explained ANSI Team leader, Anna Salamay, the Institute's office manager. "We decided to join the Revlon Run/Walk to help foster cancer research programs to reduce this statistic. The entire ANSI staff is involved in the event either as a participant or a sponsor. We hope to make a difference."
