ISO Recruiting for Deputy Secretary-General

New York, Mar 10, 2003

Mr. Alan Bryden, Secretary-General of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), has announced a call for applications for the post of Deputy Secretary-General of ISO.

According to the job description, the Deputy Secretary-General will be responsible for providing guidance, recommendations, directives and control – as appropriate – in the area of policies, procedures and plans governing the development, control and implementation of the ISO program for technical work and related IT tools. Coordination and cooperation with partner international organizations at the policy level will be involved. Focus will be on responding to member and stakeholder expectations on scope, delays and participation, on optimizing the resources and investment allocated by the Central Secretariat for the production and development of ISO standards and other deliverables and, more generally, on improving the corresponding overall processes of the ISO system. A job description with contact information is currently available on the ANSI Career Opportunities web page.

In a letter sent to the CEOs of ISO member bodies, Bryden announced that as of March 1, the positions of Assistant Secretary-General for General Administration and Finance (ASG-AF) and for Strategies Management (ASG-S) have been eliminated. Dr. Daniele Gerundino, formerly ASG-AF, has been appointed as Strategic Adviser to the Secretary-General and retains his responsibilities in the implementation of ISO strategies and corresponding strategic projects. Dr. Christian Favre, formerly ASG-S, has agreed to serve as Special Adviser to the Secretary-General until May 31, 2003 when he will retire.
