People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.

Siemens USA, a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has named Barbara Humpton as the first senior vice president and chief operating officer of Siemens Government Technologies (SGT) Inc.

Ms. Humpton began working with Siemens SGT in 2011 as senior vice president for business development. In her new role, she will oversee all operations for efficiency and effectiveness, from identifying new business opportunities to ensuring quality and value for Siemens' federal customers.

Prior to joining Siemens, Ms. Humpton held leadership positions at Lockheed Martin and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Siemens SGT promotes and facilitates the use of Siemens' products and services by federal customers to address issues in infrastructure, energy, industrial automation, and healthcare.

The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), an ANSI member, has appointed Kelly S. Willis as senior vice president for global public health.

In this role, Ms. Willis will work with the organization's executive team and Board of Directors to create and execute strategies to improve public health worldwide. She will also oversee the organization's fundraising and development, and head four public health programs: Promoting the Quality of Medicines; Center for Pharmaceutical Advancement and Training; Technical Assistance Program; and Official Medicines Control Laboratory Networks.

Prior to her appointment at USP, Ms. Willis was executive director of the Accordia Global Health Foundation, a group that works to fight the spread of infectious diseases in Africa. She will continue to work with that organization as a member of its Board of Directors.

USP is a nonprofit organization that strives to improve public health worldwide through standards for medicines, food ingredients, and dietary supplements.
