The proposed ISO standard, Guidelines for the assessment and improvement of energy services to users, would provide sector-specific guidance for energy suppliers to measure and assess services with a view toward increasing customer satisfaction and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of these services to household users. Services covered could include gas, electricity, and hot water district heating systems, as well as distributed fuels and off-grid systems. The standard is aimed at improving the quality of interaction with users and potential users, and would not address technical requirements.
According to the proposal, 1.5 billion people around the globe are without access to electricity, and in developing and transitional economies, service interruptions, fluctuations in supply, and lengthy delays in repairs can be frequent, even where there are established networks.
All comments on the proposal should be sent to Steven P. Cornish, ANSI senior director for international policy ([email protected]). Feedback received by the January 20 deadline will be reviewed and compiled for the recommended ANSI position and comments, which will then be presented to the ANSI ISO Council (AIC) for formal approval.
