People on the Move

3/20/2015

People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.

The Toy Industry Association (TIA) has announced that Stephen J. Pasierb will be the organization's president and CEO, effective at the end of April. He is succeeding Carter Keithley, who is retiring.

Mr. Pasierb will oversee and lead the organization's growth and development. Prior to this appointment, he was the president and CEO of the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, where he led the launch of several programs to prevent addiction and support treatment. He was also highly active as a commentator in the media, speaking on drug use and underage drinking in America, prevention strategies, treatment and recovery, and other related issues.

"After serving for nearly 15 years at the helm of the Partnership, Mr. Pasierb has demonstrated highly successful organizational and fiscal management abilities, and is well-positioned to enhance TIA's member services and support," said John Gessert, chairman of the TIA Board of Directors and president of American Plastic Toys. "His background and talent set are ideal for advancing our efforts in promoting toy safety and elevating awareness of the critical benefits of play in child development."

TIA, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), is a trade association representing businesses that create and deliver toys and children's entertainment products. The organization is dedicated to advancing toy safety.

The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) has appointed Megan Hayes as the organization's regulatory and standards director. Ms. Hayes will lead the organization in identifying opportunities for performance, quality, and safety standards. She will also promote the use of current standards by regulators, industry, and standards developing organizations.

Prior to joining MITA, Ms. Hayes worked for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), MITA's parent organization, where she developed technical standards. She has led the development of technical standards for the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA).

"Megan's extensive experience with standards strategy and implementation will be a tremendous asset to MITA as we work with our imaging community partners to build upon an already robust set of safety standards," said Gail Rodriguez, executive director of MITA.

MITA is a membership organization for manufacturers and product developers of medical imaging and radiation therapy technologies. The organization is a division of NEMA, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer.
