Superior Energy Performance Partnership Launches New Energy Efficiency and Conservation Web Resource

New York, Dec 05, 2007

When it comes to energy consumption, manufacturing uses more power than any other sector in the U.S. economy. In order to maintain a strong position in the global marketplace, industry is motivated to reduce costs wherever possible. A new website,, provides manufacturers with a comprehensive listing of energy efficiency and conservation resources, helping them to develop practicable energy management programs that will increase their global competitiveness and reduce overall costs.

Energy Quick Start was conceived, developed, and implemented by the Superior Energy Performance partnership, a public-private collaboration that includes representatives from U.S. industry, the Department of Energy (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Did You Know?
The manufacturing sector consumed 32 quadrillion Btu in 2006, comprising nearly one-third of the nation’s total energy consumption.

As conservation awareness continues to grow, manufacturers have taken notice and improved practices. Industrial energy consumption has steadily declined each year from an all-time high of 35 quadrillion Btu in 1997.

The new website includes documents, software, training, spreadsheets, case studies, tip sheets, experts, and calculators – many available at no cost since they were developed by government agencies, non-profit organizations, and universities. The Save Energy Now section points plant engineers to the tools and best practices that will make immediate improvements to a plant’s energy efficiency, while the Manage Your Energy Program takes a longer-term approach to the energy management process. An Assistance and Resources section provides an encyclopedic list of valuable information, assistance and resources, including training and workshops, case studies, reports, and references.
