    October 6 (click to register)

In this course, participants will explore the processes and operating procedures of ANSI-accredited U.S. technical advisory groups (TAGs) to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). They will also learn about accreditation, membership, voting requirements, and rules for developing positions, and find out how to be an effective international delegate at ISO committee meetings.

  • Course 205, ISO Secretariat Operations: Taking the Secret out of the Secretariat
    October 7 (click to register)

This course will help stakeholders to obtain insight and advice on every aspect of successful ISO committee management. Attendees will increase their understanding of the international standards development process and alternative deliverables, and learn effective management techniques. They will also acquire knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of all committee officers; hear about ANSI's relationship to ISO and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC); learn about requirements for ISO committee meetings; and gain helpful hints on preparation for and conduct at meetings. Also covered are special issues for Secretariats, including a review of new ISO electronic management tools.

Accreditation Workshops (held in Washington, D.C.)

  • Personnel Certification Accreditation Workshop
August 5-6, October 7-8, and December 2-3 (click to register)

This two-day workshop is designed to introduce interested stakeholders to the international standard ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024, General requirements for bodies operating certification schemes for persons. Discussions focus on building an understanding of the standard's requirements, its benefits, and why it has become the benchmark for personnel certification.

  • Certificate Issuers' Accreditation Workshop
September 23-24 and December 8-9 (click to register)

This two-day workshop will introduce the American National Standard ASTM E2659-09, Standard Practice for Certificate Programs, and the Institute's Certificate Accreditation Program (ANSI-CAP). Attendees will learn about the requirements for developing a quality education/training course that has an assessment at the end to determine if the learning outcomes have been achieved.
