ANSI Seeks Private-Sector Participants for ANSI-SAC International Seminar on Social Organization Standard Cooperation and Development

9/22/2017

ANSI Member Submissions Due by Friday, October 13

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), together with the Standardization Administration of China (SAC), will jointly sponsor an international seminar on social organization standard cooperation and development planning in Hangzhou, China, on December 6, 2017. The event is an opportunity for experts to discuss the latest issues of China's standardization reform and exchange research findings and perspectives in social organization standardization, to identify priority areas in the future development of China's social organization standards.

The primary objective is to share experiences in standards development between ANSI-accredited organizations and Chinese social organizations. ANSI seeks seminar speakers and general participants by Friday, October 13.

The December international seminar is a full-day event and is open to ANSI member participation from the private sector, on a first-come, first-served basis. A draft agenda for the seminar is available on ANSI's Sharepoint library. The seminar includes several speaking slots for U.S. standards developing organization (SDO) representatives to share their perspective and expertise, and serves as an opportunity to enhance U.S.-China strategic standardization cooperation.

ANSI is currently soliciting interested ANSI members to fill these speaking slots at the seminar. Interested members are requested to send the following information to ANSI ([email protected]) no later than Friday, October 13. ANSI also encourages non-speaking attendee participation.

Interested participants are asked to submit the following information:

Name, title, and organization of proposed senior-level speaker.
Agenda item or session during which the speaker would like to present.
The speaker's primary objective in presenting his/her subject.
Indicate whether anyone else from the speaker's organization will accompany the speaker. (Please note that space for non-speaker participants may depend on space and the Chinese hosts.)

The following list of topics focusing on the characteristics of standardization activities may be of interest to potential speakers, although subjects proposed for presentations need not strictly adhere to this list:

Addressing emerging technologies and meeting market demands
Ensuring balanced, open participation
Considering different views and objections
Ensuring transparency

There will also be a panel discussion on social organization standards in innovation and practices, where panelists will look to highlight opportunities for collaboration and coordination between the two countries.

Once the deadline has passed, ANSI will review the submitted expressions of interest and select the final list of presenters and presentations. Additional details will follow.
