People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community. The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), an organizational member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of Paul Hartgen as executive director of the NAM's Council of Manufacturing Associations (CMA). The CMA is made up of more than 200 associations from every sector of manufacturing and provides resources and networks to broaden the reach of the NAM's advocacy efforts. Mr. Hartgen has over 10 years of experience managing trade associations and overseeing their public policy efforts. Prior to joining the NAM he served as national task force chair and special advisor for the National Restaurant Association. He previously served as president and CEO of the New Hampshire Lodging and Restaurant Association, the Nevada Restaurant Association, and the Restaurant Association of Maryland. He has served as president of the International Society of Restaurant Association Executives and vice president of the International Society of Hotel Association Executives. Mr. Hartgen holds a B.A. in political science from the University of New Hampshire and is a Certified Association Executive from the American Society of Association Executives. The NAM is the United States' largest industrial trade association, representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector and in all 50 states.
