People on the Move

People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), announced that Elizabeth Pika has been named vice president of government affairs.

In this role she will sustain AdvaMed’s legislative efforts to ensure that American patients have access to life-saving and life-enhancing medical technologies.

An expert in health care policy, Ms. Pika previously worked as legislative director for Representative Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), who sits in the Health Subcommittee of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Before this assignment, she had served as a legislative fellow for Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), and also worked as a policy analyst for the Social Security Administration.

Ms. Pika earned a bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College and a master’s of public policy from Duke University.

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, announced that David B. Calabrese will join AHRI as vice president for public policy effective September 15.

In this newly-created position, he will oversee and direct AHRI's government relations, plus regulatory activities, research, and international affairs.

Formerly vice president of government relations at the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), Mr. Calabrese has more than seventeen years of public policy experience: he previously served as director of government relations for the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) and as an attorney with Dewey Ballantine, LLP, a Washington, DC based law firm.

Mr. Calabrese holds a master's degree in international relations from the George Washington University and a law degree from the George Washington University School of Law.

NSF International, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, announced that Mike Chaudron has been named to director of business development.

In this assignment, Mr. Chaudron will be responsible for international sales and business development, with a particular focus on NSF's water systems and food equipment businesses.

An expert in sales strategy and safety/environmental management, Mr. Chaudron joined NSF International Strategic Registrations (ISR) in 2006. Prior to his appointment, he was the national sales and marketing manager for Centrus International, a subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company in Ann Arbor, MI. Mr. Chaudron also served as president and director of business development for MSE Environmental and Safety, Inc., an international environmental science and engineering company.

Mr. Chaudron earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Alabama.
