ANSI Publishes International Policy Papers and Charts as Online Resource

New York, Oct 10, 2005

As part of its commitment to inform, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is pleased to announce the availability of international policy papers and charts that are published as part of a developing online information resource for ANSI members and constituents.

The Critical Issue Papers zero in on subjects of interest to the ANSI community and provide incisive perspectives on timely questions or concerns that may arise in certain areas of standardization and conformity assessment. Topics may discuss ANSI’s role in other non-governmental organizations, or address current trends in global standardization.

A number of Background Papers introduce readers to historical and topical information pertinent to the standardization community. Each paper is designed to provide succinct access to a wide range of subjects including international policy issues, contrasting standardization systems, and strategic guidance on participation in various regional and international meetings.

Also available is a series of PowerPoint presentations that contain diagrams of several countries’ standards and conformity assessment systems. These charts help readers better understand the contrasts between U.S. and other approaches. Information and links to websites of the entities described are included on each chart.

The ANSI Critical Issue Papers, Background Papers and Country System Diagrams have been developed and are maintained regularly by ANSI staff. These materials are publicly available via ANSI Online (www.ansi.org/standards) and are free to share and distribute.

Please submit comments, suggestions or requests for additional papers to info@ansi.org.
