ANSI Holds First Membership Webinar on ""The ANSI Value Proposition""

9/02/2014

Additional Sessions Expected to Take Place on a Monthly Basis

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) recently held the inaugural session of its membership webinar, "The ANSI Value Proposition," a free event providing a comprehensive look at the wide array of beneficial activities, resources, and services provided to the members of the ANSI Federation.

Founded in 1918, ANSI is a private non-profit organization that works to promote, facilitate, and safeguard the integrity of the voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system, bolstering U.S. economic competitiveness and innovation while also enhancing cooperation with regional and international standards and conformity assessment bodies around the world. With more than 1,000 members - including government agencies, industry bodies, Fortune 500 companies, consumer advocacy groups, institutions of higher learning, nonprofit organizations, and many other groups - ANSI plays a unique role, bridging the gaps between the public and private sector and between a variety of different stakeholder groups.

During the one-hour webinar, participants learned about the varied benefits, services, and opportunities available to ANSI full members, including:

  • The right to nominate candidates to ANSI Governance and Policy Committees
  • Access to important ANSI periodicals
  • The ability to administer a delegated International Secretariat or U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG)
  • The option to participate in ANSI's popular Manufacturer Member Roundtable in China
  • Discounts on many standards and services

The session covered the upsides of active engagement with ANSI and its member forums, field-specific standards collaboratives, and policy committees. By becoming active in these ANSI bodies, members can stay informed about significant standards and conformance-related developments, while also exercising influence over ANSI's strategic positions and the development of important documents through ANSI's status as the official U.S. member body to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and, via the U.S. National Committee (USNC), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

ANSI will hold its next membership webinar from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on September 25, 2014, for both active and prospective ANSI members. To learn more or to register for this free session, visit the official registration page. Additional sessions of the webinar are expected to be held on a monthly basis, including an October 30 webinar.
