Network on Chemical Regulation Set to Launch New Working Group Structure

Registration Open for January 22 Meeting

New York, Jan 09, 2008

Network logo With several principal elements of the European Union legislation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) scheduled to take effect on June 1, 2008, manufacturers from all industry sectors are readying their implementation strategies.

In an effort to strategically and tactically address the imminent requirements of REACH implementation, the Network on Chemical Regulation will meet on January 22, 2008, at ASTM International’s headquarters in West Conshohocken, PA.

Formed in October 2007 by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Network is an issue-driven forum established to enable U.S. manufacturers and other stakeholders with one voice when addressing domestic, regional, foreign and global chemical regulations.

A key focus of this second in-person meeting of the Network will be the introduction and launch of a new working group structure for the ongoing conduct of business. Developed from an inventory of chemical-related interests and concerns that were raised for consideration during the Network’s first meeting, the working groups will strategically address those issues which will have the most significant impact across all industries, including:

  • Global supply chain issues
  • Policy
  • Standards and conformity assessment
  • Consortia
  • Legal and IP issues

Over fifty stakeholders have already registered, representing standards developing organizations, government agencies, and diverse range of industries. As space is limited and the participant roster continues to grow, attendees are advised to submit their registration information as soon as possible.

Registration is free of charge and open to all interested parties. Relevant documents, including the meeting agenda, working group structure, and meeting travel logistics, are all available online.
