The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Megan Hayes as director of industry standards.
Ms. Hayes has over 15 years of experience in developing standards and managing their implementation industry wide. She was most recently the director of global regulatory and standards strategy for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in their medical imaging division. There, she developed and implemented standards and regulatory strategy for NEMA's medical imaging and radiation therapy member companies. Prior, Ms. Hayes worked with NEMA's lighting division, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), and the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry (ATIS).
Ms. Hayes is the chair emeritus of the ANSI Board of Standards Review (BSR). She has also received the ANSI Next Generation Award and the ANSI Meritorious Service Award. Ms. Hayes has served on the United States National Committee (USNC) to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Council as well as the Technical Management Committee (TMC).

The Portland Cement Association (PCA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has named Michael Ireland its new president and CEO.
Before joining PCA, Mr. Ireland was with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for two decades, where he served as the associate executive director for over 10 years and, previously, as managing director. Prior to his work with ASME, he was the executive director and CEO of the Association for Facilities Engineering, and executive vice president and CEO of the National Environmental Balancing Bureau.
"I am pleased to be working with Mike as the association navigates challenges, opportunities, and changes facing our industry in the years ahead," said PCA chairman and CalPortland company president and CEO Allen Hamblen.
