People on the Move

7/01/2011
People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

Schneider Electric, a company member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced that Jim Pauley will assume the role of senior vice president of external affairs and government relations, Schneider Electric USA. In his new role, Mr. Pauley will work across all five of Schneider Electric's North American businesses to engage with legislative stakeholders, playing a pivotal role in future policy and increasing the awareness of the importance of energy efficiency in a secure and intelligent energy future.

Mr. Pauley previously served as vice president of industry and government relations for Schneider Electric in North America, where he was responsible for directing company activities in all aspects of industry standards. He led the conformity assessment strategy and implementation associated with company products, and was responsible for company positions on policy issues at local, state, and national levels.

A member of the ANSI Board of Directors and chairman of the Finance Committee, Mr. Pauley was recently named co-chair of the newly launched ANSI Electric Vehicles Standards Panel (EVSP). The EVSP was formed to offer a neutral forum where public- and private-sector stakeholders can work cooperatively toward solutions that will help build the market for electric vehicles, a critical national priority. The goal of the EVSP is to produce a standardization roadmap by year's end that will identify the standards and conformance programs needed to support the safe mass deployment of electric vehicles.

Mr. Pauley previously served as an ANSI Board vice chairman, and currently holds leadership positions in numerous other industry organizations including the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Mr. Pauley earned his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, is focused on making energy safe, reliable, and efficient. The company offers integrated solutions across multiple market segments, including leadership positions in energy and infrastructure, industrial processes, building automation, and data centers/networks, as well as a broad presence in residential applications.
