ANSI Seeks Comment on Proposed New ISO Standard on Requirements for Collaborative Business Relationship Management

5/06/2013
The British Standards Institution (BSI), the United Kingdom's member body to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), has submitted a proposal for a new International Standard based on British Standard BS 11000-1 2010, Collaborative Business Relationships, that would specify requirements for effective support of collaborative business relationships. As the U.S. member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) invites all interested stakeholders to submit comments on the proposal by Friday, June 7, 2013.

According to the proposal, the standard would set down a list of requirements for the support and development of a wide variety of collaborative relationships between firms. The standard, which is applicable to firms of all sizes, can apply to formal and informal relationships, such as those related to mergers, single projects, and other short-term relationships, as well as long-term relationships, such as those seen in a joint venture or consortia. It is intended to optimize the value of collaborative business relationships by promoting increased performance through the bolstering of strategic behaviors and activities.

All comments on this proposal should be sent to Steven Cornish, ANSI senior director for international policy ([email protected]). Feedback received by the June 7 deadline will be reviewed and compiled for the recommended ANSI position and comment, which will then be presented to the ANSI ISO Council for formal approval.

The full proposal filed by BSI is available here.
