People on the Move

7/27/2018

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced two changes to its senior staff.

Jason Yaley has been appointed vice president of membership and strategic development. In this role, Mr. Yaley will oversee AIA's membership and business development activity, as well as its Supplier Management Council.

Previously, Mr. Yaley was AIA's assistant vice president for communications. During his tenure in this position, he helped lead industry and issue advocacy for the organization, working to share the story of the aerospace industry. Prior to joining AIA, he was a career civil servant with the Department of Defense, most recently as the special assistant to the Air Force chief of staff.

"I'm excited for Jason to take the helm of our membership and strategic development efforts," said AIA president and CEO Eric Fanning. "I've known Jason for years, working with him at the Pentagon and now here at AIA. His experience and his understanding of our industry will help us to grow AIA and advance the important work of our industry."

Timothy McClees has been named AIA's vice president of legislative affairs. He will lead the organization's legislative policy and advocacy work with members of Congress and their staff.

Prior to joining AIA, Mr. McClees served at Virginia-based defense firm Peraton, LLC. He managed U.S. Air Force intelligence and data storage and dissemination programs with a collective value of over $50 million. Previously, he was the chief of staff at Laurel Strategies, where he advised the CEO and oversaw long-term and crisis communication strategies for prominent leaders around the world.

"As an organization that advocates on behalf of more than 340 members in the aerospace and defense sector, one of the most valuable things we do is engage with legislators," said Mr. Fanning. "Tim's deep experience and strong relationships in our space make him the right person, at the right time, for this role. I'm thrilled he's bringing his considerable talents to AIA to help us take our advocacy efforts to the next level."
