ANSI Seeks Feedback on Possible Revision of Four ISO/IEC Guides

10/30/2014

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Management Board (TMB) recently announced plans to carry out a systematic review of four ISO/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Guides that have not undergone a review or a revision for a number of years. The affected guides are:

As the U.S. member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages stakeholders and other interested parties to provide input to ANSI regarding the potential revision of each of the affected ISO/IEC Guides. In composing their responses for each guide, respondents are asked to provide answers to the following questions:

  • Should the Guide be revised, reconfirmed, or withdrawn?
  • To the best of your knowledge, is the Guide used in the U.S.?
  • If another document is used in the U.S. rather than the ISO/IEC Guide, what other document(s) is/are used?
  • Do you have any comments to submit in relation to the three bullets immediately above?

All comments should be submitted via email to Steven Cornish, ANSI senior director for international policy, at [email protected] by close of business on Friday, January 30, 2015. Feedback received by the January 30 deadline will be reviewed and compiled for the recommended ANSI position and comment, which will then be presented to the ANSI ISO Council for formal approval.
