The International Code Council, (ICC) a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced three new additions to their staff.
Ryan Colker has been named the Code Council's vice president of innovation, a new role in the organization. He will identify emerging issues in the building industry, such as leverage of new technologies by codes and standards, modernization of the application of building regulations, and development of new strategies to support their membership. Mr. Colker will also serve as the executive director of the Alliance for National and Community Resilience.
Prior to joining the Code Council, Mr. Colker was the vice president of the National Institute of Building Sciences. There, he led efforts to improve the built environment through public and private sector collaboration. Previously, Mr. Colker was with ASHRAE, an ANSI member and audited designator, as manager of government affairs.
Karl Fippinger has joined the Code Council as vice president of fire and disaster mitigation. In this role, he will manage the organization's relationship and programs related to fire service activities and emergency management, and will collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies on disaster preparedness and public safety.
Previously, Mr. Fippinger was with Dewberry, where he led federal disaster response and recovery programs, along with emergency response planning, training, and exercises. Prior to that, Mr. Fippinger managed professional development and exhibits for the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Mr. Fippinger is a Certified Emergency Manager with the International Association of Emergency Managers, and has over 25 years of fire and rescue experience in Virginia as an instructor, command officer, and assistant fire chief.
Catherine Vinson has been appointed as the Code Council's assessment center manager. She will initially focus on testing and certification. Prior to joining the Code Council, she was an operations services quality manager for Protective, and the director of client care for Employment Screening Services.
