People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.
The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has named Ben Price its new CEO.
Prior to joining NBSTSA, Mr. Price served as the executive director of the Colorado Association of Health Plans, a trade organization for health insurers, for seven years. He was also the government and public affairs director at the Association of Surgical Technologists, where he led strategy to support the passage of multiple certification laws for surgical technologists and surgical assistants.
Mr. Price is an editor and co-author of the first edition of Surgical Technology for the Surgical Technologist: A Positive Care Approach, the first textbook written for surgical technologists. He serves on the boards of many healthcare associations in Colorado, as well as national committees of the American Society of Association Executives.
The National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII), an ANSI member, has announced that Kevin Brinkman will serve as its codes and safety director. Brian D. Black, who formerly held that role, will be the organization's safety analyst.
Mr. Brinkman has over 30 years of experience in the building transportation industry, and specializes in accessibility. He is president of Kevin L. Brinkman & Associates, a consulting firm that works with industry members on product code compliance, engineering reviews, product design, and site evaluations. He was also the vice president of engineering and quality at ThyssenKrupp Access Manufacturing, LLC, where he oversaw produce development and compliance with safety codes and standards.
Mr. Brinkman serves on various codes and standards committees, and chaired the ASME A18.1 Standards Committee and the ASME A17.1 Private Elevator Committee.
