People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), an organizational member and audited designator of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has named Gregory B. Cade as division director of government affairs. He will oversee the activities of NFPA's Washington, DC, office.

In 2007 Mr. Cade was appointed as the United States fire administrator, serving as the country's top fire official until January 2009. His most recent position was assistant director of national programs for the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC).

Mr. Cade began his career as a firefighter in the Prince George's County Fire Department in Maryland, where he served for 24 years and rose to the position of bureau chief. He then served as chief for the City of Hampton Division of Fire/Rescue and the City of Virginia Beach Fire Department, both in Virginia. He holds a B.S. in fire science from the University of Maryland.


ANSI organizational member the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) has appointed Ted Jones as director of supplier international relations. Mr. Jones will lead NEI's efforts related to U.S. industrial policy in the nuclear energy sector.

Mr. Jones previously served as a director of policy advocacy at the U.S.-India Business Council at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He was instrumental in securing approvals from Congress, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the Nuclear Suppliers Group for admitting India to global commercial nuclear trade.

Mr. Jones previously served in the public policy group of the Washington, DC, law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom, LLP. He holds a B.A. in history and philosophy from Birmingham-Southern College and an M.A. in American history from the University of Georgia.
