Revised American National Standards Process Procedures: 2007 ANSI Procedural Compliance Online Survey Due March 15

New York, Feb 02, 2007

The American National Standards Institute has announced the release of the revised 2007 edition of the ANSI Essential Requirements: Due process requirements for American National Standards and the 2007 ANSI Procedural Compliance Form. To maintain accreditation as an American National Standards (ANS) developer, the procedures used in connection with the development of consensus relative to ANS must be in compliance with current procedural requirements. After review of the 2007 edition of the ANSI Essential Requirements, all ANSI-accredited standards developers must submit the 2007 ANSI Procedural Compliance Form by March 15, 2007. The 2007 Compliance Form is in the form of an online survey.

“By seeking and maintaining ANSI-accredited status, an organization chooses to publicly commit to an open, equitable and accessible consensus process that ensures due process and benefits the public interest,” explained Lane Hallenbeck, vice president, accreditation services. “The 2007 Compliance Form online survey is designed to facilitate the annual compliance notification process.”

The revisions that have been incorporated into the ANSI Essential Requirements and other related procedures have been subjected to public review via ANSI’s Standards Action and finally approved by the ANSI Executive Standards Council (ExSC) and the ANSI Board of Directors’ National Policy Committee (NPC). A summary of the new revisions and the 2007 edition of the ANSI Essential Requirements are available in the ANSI Online Public Document Library (under the headings “American National Standards” and “Procedures, Guides and Forms”).

ANSI-accredited standards developers wishing to submit revised procedures for re-accreditation should submit them with an explanation of all changes to the PSA department at
