People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.
MHI, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), added two new leaders to its senior staff in 2018.
The organization recently announced that John Paxton has joined as chief operating officer (COO)/chief executive officer (CEO) designate. Mr. Paxton will manage MHI's Industry Group activities, as well as other initiatives.
Mr. Paxton has over 30 years of experience, with 20 years as an executive leader at Demagcranes and Components. He has served as the president of the Crane Manufacturing Association (CMAA), president of the Hoist Manufacturers Institute (HMI), and chairman of the Board of MHI.
"John's experience as the leader of a major material handling manufacturing enterprise and his volunteer leadership at MHI brings a unique perspective on the needs of both MHI members and end users which will serve him well in his new role," said George Prest, chief executive officer of MHI.
Earlier in 2018, MHI appointed Doug Reed as executive vice president of strategic development.
Prior to joining MHI, Mr. Reed was chief marketing officer and vice president, training and development at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS). He has over 25 years of experience in education, professional development, information technology, and marketing. Mr. Reed is a past president of the American Marketing Association DC Chapter and past president of the International Society for Performance Improvement Potomac Chapter.
"Doug will leverage his extensive experience and skill set to drive deeper engagement with MHI members and widen our reach to the overall manufacturing and supply chain industry," said Mr. Prest. "His experience will be a tremendous asset to MHI as we advance our efforts to meet the demands of MHI's growing business model."
