People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced that Thomas Costabile is its new executive director. Mr. Costabile will lead the codes and standards development, membership, conferences, technical publishing, education and professional development, and public policy programs. Additionally, he will implement an organizational strategy that creates products, services, and programs around five key technologies: manufacturing, bioengineering, robotics, clean energy, and pressure technology.

Prior to joining ASME, Mr. Costabile was a business consultant for Carlan Advisors and a partner at 3essential LLC, where he advised boards, senior executives, private equity sponsors, and investors. He is a mechanical engineer who began his career in the nuclear power industry, and has held high-level leadership roles at CBS Records, SONY, and WEA Manufacturing - Warner Music Group.

"Tom is an accomplished executive with a strong track record for delivering results in large, global organizations," said Charla K. Wise, president of ASME. "He arrives at ASME in the midst of exciting organizational changes and growth, and I, along with the entire Board of Governors, believe ASME has chosen an experienced leader to help the Society move forward."

The IAPMO Group, an ANSI member and audited designator, has appointed Sal Aridi director of special projects and business development for IAPMO R&T Lab.

Mr. Aridi is a professional engineer with over 30 years of industry experience. He joins IAPMO from ANSI member and audited designator NSF International, where he was an engineering manager who oversaw a team of engineers and technicians designing, managing, and establishing accreditation for test labs. These included electrical, commercial food equipment, wastewater treatment devices, swimming pool equipment, biosafety cabinetry, drinking water devices, water softeners, plumbing, and EnergyStar test labs.

"Sal comes to IAPMO R&T Lab with a wealth of knowledge and experience in product testing and certification," said Ken Wijaya, IAPMO R&T Lab executive vice president. "I look forward to working with Sal in expanding our testing services."
