ANSI Announces Revised American National Standards Process Procedures

New York, Feb 02, 2004

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced recent changes to the American National Standards (ANS) process and issued the 2004 Compliance Form required for all organizations seeking to maintain ANSI accreditation. The deadline for completion and return of the Compliance Form is March 15, 2004.

New, revised editions of the various procedures that govern and relate to the ANS process have been subjected to public review via ANSI’s Standards Action and approved by the ANSI Executive Standards Council (ExSC) and the ANSI Board of Directors’ National Policy Committee (NPC).

To maintain compliance with the conditions upon which ANSI accreditation was granted, accredited organizations are required to review the revisions listed in Attachment B of the compliance form and determine whether or not revisions to their ANSI-accredited procedures are necessary, and submit the completed form by the deadline.

"By seeking and maintaining an ANSI-accredited status as a developer of American National Standards (ANS), organizations choose to publicly commit to an open, equitable and accessible consensus process that ensures due process and benefits the public interest," said Anne Caldas, director of procedures and standards administration.
