ANSI Announces Services Standardization Conferences in Partnership with Singapore

9/11/2017

October Event Hosted by ANSI in DC; November Event Hosted by SPRING in Singapore

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), in partnership with the national standards and accreditation body of Singapore (SPRING), will host two services standardization conferences, on October 17-18, 2017, in Washington, DC, as part of World Standards Week (WSW), and on November 2-3, 2017, in Singapore. Both conferences will explore key services standardization areas of common interest to the two nations and identify potential opportunities for joint national standards or international standards.

With conferences in each country, ANSI and SPRING can better benefit respective national members and stakeholders. For the DC event, ANSI members and interested stakeholders including those from government, industry, business, consumer groups, and academia are encouraged to attend and share their perspectives, insights, and expertise.

The ANSI-SPRING Services Conference is free for all to attend. It will be held at the FHI Conference Center in Washington, DC, over the course of two days: October 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and October 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Registration is available via the ANSI WSW web page.

ANSI has released the draft agenda for the DC conference; additional speakers will be added as they are confirmed.

Following an opening session including ANSI and SPRING leaders, alongside U.S. government and services industry stakeholders, the DC event will focus on four key service sector standardization topics:

"Healthcare Services" will include expert perspectives from Harvard Medical School, the U.S. Food and Drug Association (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), Changi General Hospital, and the Singapore Standards Council.
"Financial Services" will include experts from Citi, NETS, IBM, Bloomberg, and the Association of Banks in Singapore.
"Unmanned Aircraft Systems" will feature panelists from the American Petroleum Institute, Trivector Services, Amazon Prime Air, and more.
"Credibility and Quality of Service Providers through Conformity Assessment" will include representatives from Intelios, TUV SUD, American Certification Body, and more.

ANSI will release additional details on the November event in Singapore via its 2017 ANSI and SPRING Singapore Services Conference page, as speakers are confirmed.

The October conference is part of World Standards Week, hosted each year by ANSI - coordinator of the U.S. standardization system. WSW is designed to foster open exchange among various types of standards-setting and conformity assessment/compliance organizations who are working in close partnership with government and industry in nearly every sector and product line. This year, WSW will be held on October 16-20, and is expected to bring together departmental and agency officials, industry leaders, consumer advocates, academics, and standardization executives from across the country.

The 2017 ANSI Conference is a free event, but advance registration is required. The full schedule of WSW 2017 events and registration details are available at www.ansi.org/wsweek.
