Third ISO Networking Conference Slated for November in Sydney

New York, May 10, 2004

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has announced its preliminary program for the Third ISO Networking Conference to be held in Sydney, Australia, November 29-30, 2004. The conference is titled, Strategic Orientations for the ISO Community: How Do Communication, Marketing and Training Fit In?, and will give participants the opportunity to exchange their ideas and views on the implementation of ISO strategic objectives related to communications, marketing and training.

In 2003, ISO members and stakeholders were called upon to consider ISO’s objectives and action plans, and assess the organization in relation to surrounding political, economic and social developments in the world that may have an effect on international standardization. The resulting ISO Strategic Plan 2005-2010 covers a number of subjects related to communication and promotion. The current program of the third ISO Networking Conference is aimed at identifying ways of implementing the ISO Strategic Plan 2005-2010 with respect to these areas.

The conference is hosted by Standards Australia International, the ISO member body for Australia, with sponsorship from SAI Global Ltd, the publisher of Australian Standards. Potential topics include communicating to stakeholders, increasing the involvement of ISO and its members, adding value to standards, ISO system resources, and improving networking in the ISO system.

ISO Networking Conferences serve as a forum where the information, marketing, training and public relations managers and experts of the ISO community establish contacts, communicate and share their perspectives.

Participants must register no later than October 15, 2004; there is no fee for registration. For more information or to register, please visit the ISO Networking Conference website.
