11/28/2017

Sponsorship Opportunities available

The United States National Committee (USNC) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has announced its intention to host the 86th IEC General Meeting in San Francisco in 2022! The 10-day annual assembly cultivates collaboration and cooperation in the fields of electrotechnical standardization and conformity assessment. The IEC General Meeting provides a forum for over 1,500 international technical experts and policy makers to discuss the future direction and strategies of the IEC.

A meeting of this scale requires broad financial support; the USNC invites interested parties and stakeholders to demonstrate their commitment to international standardization through sponsorship of this event, which is available at various levels.

Developed by the USNC 2022 Planning Committee, a comprehensive list of sponsorship benefits and contribution details can be found in the IEC 2022 brochure.

Hosting the IEC 2022 General Meeting in the US, not only demonstrates US leadership in the electrotechnical sector, but also:

  • Raises the level of understanding within US industry and governmental agencies of the importance of IEC standards and conformity assessment activities,
  • Creates opportunities for U.S. businesses to participate in establishing industry standards that lead to greater global market access,
  • Helps the US electrotechnical industry compete in the global marketplace through participation and use of an open, balanced, and transparent standards development process,
  • Affords an opportunity for U.S. participants to reduce travel costs by having the General Meeting, and its related technical meetings, within the US as opposed to requiring international travel,
  • Demonstrates the USNC's leadership position in the management structure of the IEC at all levels, and
  • Provides evidence to the world market that US electrotechnical standardization activities are significant components of the IEC and international standardization activities.

A committee of ANSI, the USNC serves as the as the US representative to the IEC, and the conduit for US parties who are interested in the development, promulgation, and use of globally-relevant standards for the electrotechnical industry. The Committee is also engaged in the assessment of compliance to standards, undertaking work in areas such as testing, certification, and accreditation. Strong US participation in the IEC is critical to national competitiveness and the continued growth and innovation in US electrotechnical industries.
