Register Now: Free 2017 ANSI Webinar Courses for U.S. International Standards Development Leadership

12/09/2016

Sessions for ISO Secretariats, U.S. TAG Administrators, and Prospective Participants

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released its 2017 schedule for two courses that fulfill the training requirement affecting all ANSI-delegated International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Secretariats, as well as all ANSI-accredited U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Administrators to ISO [see related news item].

ANSI reminds all U.S. TAG Administrators and delegated ISO Secretariat staff serving as the official ANSI contact who have not taken the courses offered by ANSI to register for instructor-led webinars covering procedural issues including a review of the ANSI International Procedures. After fulfilling that requirement, all U.S. TAG Administrators and delegated ISO Secretariat staff are required to take the annual Updates Course, which includes a review of current issues. The training requirements do not apply to TAG members.

The courses are intended to bolster the effectiveness of U.S. participation in international standardization activities, and are offered free of charge to the following eligible constituents:

  • ANSI-delegated ISO Secretariats (and their support staff)
  • ANSI-accredited U.S. TAG Administrators (and U.S. TAG officers)

ISO Secretariat Operations: Taking the Secret Out of the Secretariat

This course is intended for those holding, or anticipating holding, ISO committee secretariats on ANSI's behalf and anyone requiring an in-depth knowledge of ISO and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) procedures for technical work. Those in attendance will gain a better understanding of all aspects of successful ISO committee management, strengthen their understanding of the international standards development process and alternative deliverables, and learn effective management techniques. Attendees will also develop knowledge of the roles and responsibilities for all committee officers, hear details about ANSI's relationship with ISO, learn the requirements for ISO committee meetings, and receive useful advice regarding preparation for and conduct at meetings. Other topics include a review of new ISO electronic management tools and other special issues for Secretariats.
