"Can $5 help to save a life?" This was the question posed by the Lee Company in its sponsorship of the eighth annual Lee National Denim Day® to raise money for breast cancer awareness, education and research.

Today, members of ANSI staff in the Institute’s Washington, DC headquarters and New York City operations office joined with millions of Americans in an effort to raise $6.5 million during the world’s largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer. Lee Jeans, sponsor for the event, invited individuals at companies and organizations nationwide to make a $5 donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in exchange for wearing jeans to work.

Since 1996, companies nationwide have raised more than $36 million for Lee National Denim Day. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation receives 100% of all donations to fund research, education, screening and treatment programs.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
