People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.

Longtime John Deere employee Douglas Durant has retired after 37 years with the company. Mr. Durant spent 20 years managing John Deere's Ag Tractor involvement in strategic standards development, earning widespread recognition for his abilities in coordinating standards in the agricultural tractor sector worldwide. His efforts have led John Deere to be recognized as a significant contributor to agricultural tractor standards development.

In addition to his work at John Deere, Mr. Durant was active on numerous committees for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), ASABE, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD), and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

Mr. Durant has received many honors throughout his career, including ANSI's 2014 Meritorious Service Award, four Presidential Distinguished Service awards, two Leadership Citations, and ASABE's Evelyn E. Rosentreter Standards award. He also won the Outstanding Contributions award from the ConAg Council of SAE and the 2013 Virginia Tech College of Engineering Outstanding Alumnus (Biological Systems Engineering).

The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) has named Regina Hopper as its new president and chief executive officer, effective May 18, 2015.

Ms. Hopper has extensive experience in public policy advocacy, communication, media, and law in major Washington industry associations for the transportation, telecommunications, and energy industries. Prior joining ITS America, she served as president and CEO of America's Natural Gas Alliance, where she built the organization's operations from the ground up across Washington, D.C., and 22 states. Ms. Hopper was also executive vice president of US Telecom and the American Trucking Associations.

Before Ms. Hopper began working at trade associations, she was a correspondent for CBS News and earned an Emmy for investigative reporting on 48 Hours, covering the George H.W. Bush and Clinton administrations.

Ms. Hopper is a 2011 Johnson Fellow at the University of Arkansas, and holds a juris doctorate and a bachelor of arts in political science from the university. She is currently chairman of the Miss America Foundation.
