Ed Greene, CEO of the Vision Council, an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) member and accredited standards developer, recently announced plans to retire from his position later in 2014. During Mr. Greene's eight-year tenure as CEO, the Vision Council grew from less than 250 to more than 750 members and successfully rebranded; it had previously been known as the Vision Council of America.

Prior to joining the Vision Council, Mr. Greene worked as vice president of business development at Carl Zeiss Vision, president and CEO of Carl Zeiss Optical Inc., and served as the president of the board of directors of Prevent Blindness America and as a board member for the Foundation for Eye Health Awareness. He received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in ceramic engineering from New York's Alfred University.

The Vision Council is a member-driven organization representing optical industry suppliers and manufacturers. The council carries out consumer outreach, education, and advocacy work with the goal of advancing public knowledge of advances in optical technology and related health benefits.

The Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), an ANSI organizational member and accredited standards developer, has hired Matthew Welch as its new chief operating officer (COO). Mr. Welch will be responsible for overseeing the organization's operations, providing financial oversight, and guiding human resources activities, among other responsibilities.

Mr. Welch previously worked as COO at Junyo, general manager at Teachscape, and scholarships department manager at the Rotary Foundation. He has also held a variety of positions at Kaplan, including vice president, digital strategy and platform development and vice president of business transformation at Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, and vice president of operations at Kaplan K12 Learning Services. He received his bachelor of arts degree in Spanish and theater from Iowa's Grinnell College and his master of public administration degree in management and policy analysis from New York's Columbia University.

SASB is a nonprofit organization focused on developing and propagating sustainability accounting standards that assist publicly traded companies in accurately and effectively disclosing sustainability information to fulfil accounting requirements and provide investors with important information.
