June 13-14 in Geneva

03/24/2016

Registration is now open for the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) workshop on June 13–14 in Geneva, which will highlight the worldwide potential for services standardization, as international trade in services becomes a greater driver in economic growth in both developing and developed countries. As the U.S. member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages all interested stakeholders to get involved in the event.

See the website to consult the draft program and to register.

A two-day interactive event, “Global Services – ISO Standards as Solutions” will focus on how ISO International Standards can best help design, assess, and measure service excellence to benefit businesses and customers, in relation to existing standards as well as recommendations the from event participants. Group discussion topics will include what elements are most important or expected in the provision of a service, which types of services are most often purchased or provided internationally, and how ISO standards support these services. The conference is also intended to evaluate the needs and expectations of various stakeholders, including companies, consumers, governments, developing countries, regarding services and standards related to them. Additionally, a World Trade Organization (WTO) Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) representative will present facts and trends about current international trade in services, relevant conventions, the role of standards, and more.

The ISO Technical Management Board (TMB) chair and ISO Committee on Consumer Policy (COPOLCO) chair (or a delegated representative) will serve as co‐moderators, providing an overview of workshop objectives and briefly outlining the interests and activities of the TMB and COPOLCO in relation to ISO services standards.
