Regulatory Community Invited to Preview Compliance Global Regulatory Information Database

New York, Jun 14, 2006

On June 27, 2006, the Object Management Group (OMG) and the OMG Regulatory Compliance Alliance (ORCA) will host a private event to introduce the Compliance Global Regulatory Information Database (C-GRID)—an open repository of rules, regulations, standards, and government guidance documents requiring information technology (IT) action. The database will serve as a tool for companies to keep abreast of changing regulations and to resolve regulatory conflicts stemming from geographical differences.

“When the C-GRID is released, users will be able to identify which rules apply to them and manually review the descriptions of IT requirements to detect conflicts,” said Adrian Bowles, OMG regulatory compliance program director. “We expect this process to become automated by tool vendors who use the C-GRID and emerging OMG standards for regulatory modeling. This will enable a generation of compliance tools far more powerful than anything on the market today.”

Members of the regulatory compliance community and IT compliance risk and management executives are invited to attend the event. The demonstration of the C-GRID project will be followed by a moderated discussion and a keynote presentation led by the C-GRID’s lead contributors. Attendees will be issued a password for special access to the database prior to its public release in the third quarter of 2006.

The event will be held at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel in Boston, MA, on June 27, 2006. There is no registration fee to attend, though attendance is limited. For more information, and to register for the event, visit www.omg.org/orca-cd.
