Coming Soon: ANSI Enhances Member Online Resources

New York, Mar 27, 2006

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will launch a three-part series of software upgrades to enhance the online tools and resources available to its members. At the roll-out’s completion, users will have improved and streamlined access to the Institute’s document library and membership management software programs.

Increased Security, Greater Ease
Launching April 17, 2006, a new identity management (IDM) software program will enable users to access member resources and manage tasks with greater ease and security. The IDM software is an overarching security management tool that makes use of system-wide password policies to enable access to different programs with a single password while offering an increased level of data protection. In conjunction with the launch of the software, ANSI members will receive, via e-mail, a unique user ID and password that will allow users to access both the Sharepoint document library and iMIS e-series—a new membership management program. Members will also be able to make use of the software’s self-service password management tool to retrieve a forgotten password or make changes to their existing code.

Immediate Access
The second phase of improvements will introduce an upgraded, streamlined version of ANSI’s document library—Sharepoint. Scheduled to launch in early May, the new version will use a Web-based design in lieu of the previous folder-based structure. The new design will facilitate immediate access to all appropriate pages and documents specific to each user. The document library’s homepage will provide links to sites of general use, including ANSI Online, the eStandards Store, and the NSSN.

Enhanced Personal Administration
The final phase of the roll-out, set to launch in early June, will smooth administrative processes between ANSI staff and members. With the same password used to navigate Sharepoint, members will be able to access the Institute’s new membership management software program—iMIS e-series. Members will have greater administrative control over their personal information, and will have the ability to view their invoices and pay dues online; register for a variety of ANSI events and classes; and update their personal contact information. New users will have the option to submit an online application for ANSI membership.

For technical assistance with the new software, members may contact ANSI’s customer service department at 212.642.4980.
