Get Involved: U.S. TAG Participants Sought for ISO Technical Committee on Intelligent Transport Systems

5/29/2019

Deadline: July 31, 2019

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the U.S. member body to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is seeking expert participants on behalf of ISO Technical Committee (TC) 204 on Intelligent transport systems. All U.S. stakeholder organizations in relevant fields and industries, especially those in the parking sector, are strongly encouraged to get involved by July 31, 2019.

At the ISO/TC 204 Kennedy Space Center Plenary in April 2019, ISO/TC 204 approved Resolution 1328 to strongly welcome the approach from the Alliance for Parking Data Standards (APDS) organization and their request to develop global standards for intelligent transport systems for the parking sector and parking stakeholder interest. ISO/TC 204 has encouraged APDS to provide its parking data specifications, for review and evaluation, and for consideration for standardization. ISO/TC 204 has also recently established a PWI TR 24321 Intelligent transport systems - Development of data standards for the parking sector.

The approach from APDS provides impetus for those experts with an interest in ITS services and technologies in the parking sector to start to shape the standards that ISO/TC 204 currently lacks relating to parking operations, services and interfaces with other disciplines. It is expected that the PWI will both review the APDS specifications that are being tabled for consideration by ISO and also undertake an initial broader review, within the scope of ISO/TC 204 of other parking relating standardization topics that may be considered in a future program of standardization.

Prospective U.S. TAG participants for ISO TC 204 or for those seeking more information should contact U.S. TAG administrator Adrian Guan at [email protected] and the U.S. TAG Chair Koorosh Olyai at [email protected].
