People on the Move

4/05/2019

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a member and accredited standards developer of ANSI, has added two new managing directors to their leadership team.

Debbie Holton has joined ASME as managing director of industry events. In this role, Ms. Holton manages the society's industry events portfolio and leads its technology advancement and business development team in transforming their business development strategy.

Prior to joining ASME, Ms. Holton was vice president of events and strategy for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, leading their team in doubling gross revenue, launching new products, and developing strategic partnerships. Her work with corporate strategies includes areas of emerging technologies such as additive manufacturing and 3D printing, and she has led notable industry collaborations such as the U.S. Department of Defense's Aerospace Automation Consortium. Crain's Detroit Business recognized her in its 2018 list of "Notable Women in Manufacturing."

"Debbie has strong technical knowledge of industry needs and a history of cultivating relationships with leaders of companies, associations, universities, and government agencies where her input is sought out and respected," said ASME chief operating officer Jeff Patterson. "Her experience and innovative approach will help ASME accomplish its objectives with existing technologies as well as in strategic growth areas."

Kathleen Lobb has joined the ASME as managing director of philanthropy and executive director of the ASME Foundation. She leads a team that is building a consolidated fundraising effort for philanthropic programs for both ASME and the ASME Foundation.

Before she came to ASME, Ms. Lobb was with the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) for 17 years, most recently as chief communications strategist and co-founder of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), EIF's largest division. She also served as EIF's chief communications officer. Since SU2C's launch 10 years ago, more than $603 million has been pledged to support its collaborative cancer research programs. Ms. Lobb's extensive experience encompasses communications strategy development and implementation, fundraising, event planning, team management, and cultivation of important stakeholder relationships.

"We have an extraordinary suite of programs and need to convey their life-changing impact both to our mechanical engineering colleagues and others who may be interested in supporting this work," said ASME executive director Tom Costabile. "With proven non-profit leadership that blends communications and fundraising expertise, Kathleen is well equipped to help take ASME philanthropy to the next level."
