ANSI Awarded Contract to Implement Phase V of USTDA's U.S.-China Standards and Conformity Assessment Cooperation Program

4/11/2018

Smooth Transition Expected As ANSI Wraps Up Phase IV

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) was recently awarded a contract by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to implement Phase V of the U.S.-China Standards and Conformity Assessment Cooperation Program (SCCP). USTDA helps companies create U.S. jobs through the export of U.S. goods and services for priority development projects in emerging economies.

ANSI was previously chosen by USTDA to implement Phase III and IV of the SCCP, and the award for Phase V comes as ANSI prepares to conclude the final two workshops under Phase IV, which will cover cold chain logistics and energy performance contracting. As has been the case in past phases, ANSI will organize 20 seminars and workshops mostly in China over the next three years, covering a wide range of sectoral topics related to standards and conformity assessment that impact U.S. and Chinese industry.

ANSI is proud to continue to offer the U.S.-China SCCP as an engagement vehicle for members interested or already active in the China market. This initiative, which ANSI has implemented since 2013, complements ANSI's China Program and reflects ANSI's strong track record in successfully implementing international capacity building projects, as well as ANSI's position as a unique resource that can pull together workshops on relevant issues with broad stakeholder involvement from industry, government and the standardization community in China.

"The success of the previous phases of the U.S.-China SCCP reflects the power of collective engagement. Opportunities for open dialogue between the U.S. and China on standards and conformity assessment are critical to facilitating greater and smoother market access for American companies," said ANSI's vice president for international policy, Joseph Tretler. "This award demonstrates ANSI's ongoing commitment to fostering Sino-American cooperation to facilitate trade and we are honored to continue working with USTDA on the fifth phase of this important initiative."
