People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited standards developer and organizational member the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA) recently announced the hiring of Victor Meijers as its vice president of marketing and communications. Mr. Meijers will be responsible for overseeing ECIA's marketing and communications efforts, with the goal of bolstering the association's ongoing growth.

Before joining ECIA, Mr. Meijers served as a principal consultant at Strategy 2 Results, and was director of strategic planning for the Americas at Avnet Electronics Marketing, where he was involved in the creation and execution of strategic plans. Mr. Meijers obtained a bachelor of arts degree in English and psychology from California's San Diego State University, and studied business at Arizona State University and theology at California's Fuller Theological Seminary.

ECIA is a membership organization representing a wide variety of organizations in the electronics components industry, including manufacturers, authorized distributors and manufacturer's representatives. The association, which was formed in 2011 by uniting the National Electronic Distributors Association (NEDA) and the Electronic Components Association (ECA), serves as an advocate for the authorized sale of electronic components and supports its members work on the development of electronics industry guidelines, technical standards, and other important documents.


The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI), an ANSI organizational member, has promoted Steven Hawkins to the position of vice president of marketing. In the position, Mr. Hawkins will oversee CRSI's domestic marketing and promotional work, which includes region manager activities and region-specific promotion.

Before being promoted to his current position, Mr. Hawkins served as CRSI's national director of marketing and as CRSI's southern regional manager, where he was responsible for overseeing a series of successful marketing and educational resources. Prior to joining CRSI, Mr. Hawkins was the president of Communications Arts & Sciences. He received his bachelor of arts degree in architecture and his master's degree in communications studies from the University of Kansas.

CRSI is a trade association serving the construction markets in North America. CRSI members are manufacturers, fabricators, and placers of steel reinforcing bar and related products, and professionals who are involved in the research, design, and construction of reinforced concrete. The association serves the needs of architects, engineers, and construction professionals through technical publications, design aids, software programs, and educational seminars.
